FEBRUARY 2019James enters Daybreak Academy and
discovers Keith is his roommate. They make very wobbly first attempts at getting along and yet end in a fight. James finds out Keith's parents are dead. They end on shaky truce. Also a cat is saved from a tree.
James
makes his first post on the network to get some socializing in. He meets some people. The post also results in
him and Keith sparring. James confesses he sees Keith as a rival.
Adelaide and James go hiking. First friend here? Get!
MARCH 2019James goes on his first mission as part of the control room crew.
He meets Toki.
On a full moon,
James and Keith get into an argument. James tries to establish that he wants to be friends with Keith, but their differences are simply too huge.
For a while, Keith doesn't talk to James. James
tries to make amends by confessing to Keith that he's always been jealous of him. It establishes peace between them again.
During summer break, the student go to Marseille.
James and Keith have fun at the beach and end up incredibly sunburnt.
APRIL 2019A fae spell hits the school and separates everyone's inner child from them.
Small Keith and James get along really well. They make a promise to go to space together as adults.
Older Keith and normal James have a considerably more awkward time.
At some point during this time period, older Keith took the baby versions of James and Keith for a flying motorbike ride, because he is the
cool dad.
A TV crew comes to Daybreak to film and everything magical needs to be hidden from them. This leads James to
confess his troubles with the school to Yang.
After regaining the memories of their kid selves
Keith and James have a talk. Their relationship improves further.
MAY 2019The Student Council begins its elections.
James campaigns for Vice President. Toki tells him he has no charm and against all odds... it hits him?
Thanks to an incident with Kisara-the-dragon in the forst, James runs into a werewolf on his way home. He is shaken up, but not as shaken up as when he hears Keith confess to
be that werewolf. He decides to truth Keith and keep his secret.
James furthers his campaign for student council.
JUNE 2019James decides Nana is his favourite Prez candidate. A student council frog mascot is discussed, god help us all.
Keith adopts a space wolf and leaves James with a sudden but intense fear of him moving out. The answer?
Ask him to prom! As friends. Totally a friends thing.
After seeing a replica of his father on a mission, Keith comes home shaken.
James' initial attempts to comfort him seem to go well, but when he probes into Keith's mind too much, it nearly ends their friendship.
The next day,
James attempts to apologize. It doesn't go well. Keith questions whether or not to people like them can ever be friends. James, desperate and hurt, confesses his crush at Keith in an unthinking moment. This throws Keith off badly enough that it somehow fixes their relationship. They hold hands for the first time.
The arrival of Nightfall's first Herald is announced. It leaves a lot of people very shaken. In the evening,
there is a bonfire to help cheer students up. James has a meaningful conversation with Yuya about the nature of the Outlands. Yang and him talk about battle and the mentality it needs. And finally Keith and James go sparring to test out James' new Rune Armor. They reaffirm their prom plans, though Keith refuses to say if it's a date.
Unexpectedly,
an old classmate arrives.
James and Keith get ready for prom. They decide to wear matching flowers.
At prom proper, a great many things happen. James meets many new people, most notably Ana, a fellow rune enthusiast (who Toki soon prophesies to get stabbed). Lance comes up to Keith and James and makes fun of Keith, leading James to feel like he is looking at himself in the past. But in the end, all turns out well. James and Keith share their first kiss and then... considerably more.
After Ana is still worried about the prophecy,
James promises to look out for her in the fight.
The very day after prom Keith gets assaulted, so
James has to retrieve his knife and then
visit him in the infirmary.
Since nothing ever calms down, Toki makes an ill-advised network post and
destablizes James' convictions further.
JULY 2019The big fight against the Herald takes place in Australia.
James breaks an arm and then exits the battle early to save Ana. While he is passed out, the UN decide to... nuke the whole area, to cover up what happened.
Ana and James end in the infirmary
and have various visitors. James begins to realize Ana has low self-worth.
Jolyne meanwhile is still not over the battle with Keith and slanders him on the network,
much to James' fury.
After being discharged from the infirmary,
James confesses his feelings to Keith. They begin dating for real. Keith declares that he wants to go to the Outlands.
Only a day later, Adelaide goes on a rampage and bites Ana.
Ana warns Keith and this in turn is how James learns Adelaide is a vampire. When Keith wants to go check matters out, James tells him to stop Adelaide but not hurt her. That... sort of works out?
The next morning, James
goes for breakfast with Ana and reveals his and Keith's relationship to her. He also finds out that Ana and Lance are friends.
Keith winds up leaving on the 9th, and
he and James exchange goodbyes.
During Keith's absence
James leaves Keith a lot of text messages. Keith meanwhile catches a toad in the Outlands and declares it a gift for James.
In this time period
James builds a rifle and trains more. In his renewed training schedule, he meets Jolyne at the gym and has a talk about redemption with her.
On the 15th, something goes wrong on campus and
memories wind up getting shared. James learns something new about Yuya and ends up calling his family into question in a variety of ways.
In the aftermath of the memoryshare,
Ana explains her past to James. On the very same evening,
Keith returns briefly from the Outlands. The toad is named Sir Keithington I. James and Keith also have a long overdue talk about forgiveness and to not ask for it.
Only a day later,
Nadia shows up at the school and James regains a BFF once thought lost.
Since he is overworking himself, Ana drags James to the Azores for two days.
Truth or dare at the beach happens.
When Keith returns the second time, he brings with him the tale of an ancient rune lion he has a spiritual connection to... and he also brings with him an Outlands princess. James now feels a bit responsible to
help Allura out in the human world.
At the very end of the month, James joins Keith, Ruby and Adelaide to
take the fight to the necromancer who caused the ghost train a while back. James knew Keith would go either way, so he figured he'd rather be there. They don't win the fight and Keith ends up comatose.
AUGUST 2019James spends a lot of the early month
in Keith's hospital room until Keith
wakes up on the 4th. They plan to go back to Arizona together for a vacation.
James is in Arizona over the week of his birthday (August 13th) the evening of which he
spends with Keith. When he gets back to France, he hosts a
birthday party on the 18th.
On the 20th, James attends
a mission in an ice manor.
At the end of the month, the necromancer
strikes back and targets the group that attacked her - and with them, the whole school.
SEPTEMBER 2019In September, James is formally sworn into office for the Student Coundil and
sees their rooms for the first time.
On the 22nd, The Hunt sweeps over the Academy and makes students and faculty alike go violent. James has a
dangerous run-in with Keith's werewolf form.
But mercilessly, classes begin soon after and James
picks up work for the council properly.
The Hunt leaves a lasting concern on James, that he brings up to Valvatorez towards the end of the month.
OCTOBER 2019James learns that
yet another one of his friends has a dangerous secret.
Toki leaves campus to live in Soleil instead and Yuuya moves back to his mother as a consequence of the Wild Hunt. James is left feeling a little lonely.
But
Keith's birthday surprise party with just James and the pets turns out to be a huge success.
In preparation for an event,
James asks students to design a mascot for the student council. It goes... interestingly.
At the end of October, the Student Council hold their first self-planned event:
The Halloween Ball. On the day prior, Sir and Cosmo went on a plushie-stealing rampage, leaving their room kind of cramped.
NOVEMBER 2019The second Herald is being created and turns out to be....
a baby?Later in the month, James goes on a (this time school-sanctioned) mission to
defeat the necromancer once and for all.
DECEMBER 2019Unfortunately for James, the necromancer isn't dead, and she has gained allies. James is
kidnapped by the lycan Galra clan and turned into a werewolf against his will. Keith is concerned.
It takes until the 6th for him to
be rescued.
Becoming a werewolf is tough but
James is giving his best.
By Christmas, things have at least normalized enough to have some
mistletoe fun.
JANUARY 2020James and Keith head to the outlands.
