[Resisting some urge to flop backwards into his bed, Keith sits forward, one elbow on his leg with his chin resting in his hand.]
Why orange? Is that your favorite color?
[He doesn't THINK it is. Or at least he's never seen James make any fuss about orange, but that's a pretty specific color for a rose. Keith's most often only seen them in shades of red and white.]

It's hard not to think back at the conversation they had after their sparring session. The kiss on the cheek. For a second, his heart does something funny, just skipping a beat before going back to normal. Maybe this is just like that time when they left the locker room hand in hand, and it left him feeling inexplicably reassured.
And maybe it's his turn to reciprocate.
In the end, he slowly, wordlessly holds out his hand to accept the rose.]

Keith chooses not to think about either of these things or question for the umpteenth time just how exactly it is he got here. Instead, he looks at the James and the smile on his face and breathes out.]

I learned he was a Seer at prom before that all happened, actually. He had a vision in the middle of our conversation but didn't vocalize what it was. That's why I was...very surprised when he went about things the way he did.
I can't say I'm not shaken up by it, given that I've been contemplating my own mortality all morning. But I also don't think I would be fit to be in the Rune Guard if I chose to run away from this and hide from the Herald.
